BEGINNER WORKSHOPS

Basic Beginner Workshops

If you have always wanted to learn how to dance, or are looking to learn a new style of dance these workshops are for you! Workshops help new dancers progress and build on what they have learned from week to week. Our Beginner Workshops are split into Sessions. It is ideal to participate in the workshops back to back to improve your skills and progress to our Advanced Beginner level classes. Please note each session builds upon material taught in previous sessions. Sessions will run through mid-May.

Basic Beginner Tap

You will learn Basic Tap steps and rhythms. This class will go slowly and we will practice each step to increase and develop foot and ankle strength as well as balance. These steps and rhythms will then be put into short combinations. Please wear comfortable dance/exercise clothes. Tap shoes required (leather tap shoes only please, no shiny patent leather. Lace up, or Mary Jane style with a buckle are all acceptable options.). *Session II and beyond are progressions from Session I, prior Tap training required to join.

*Split Plan Payment Option Available for Sessions of 12 or More Lessons!  To “Split” the Workshop fee into two payments (first payment due upon registration, second payment due 2 months later) please follow these steps: Visit NCD’s MINDBODY store on your laptop or computer (this pricing plan is NOT available in the MINDBODY APP!). Click on the “Online Store” tab.  Select “Contracts.” Select “Split Plan Basic Beginner” from the drop down menu. Make Purchase. Once your purchase is completed, click on the “Workshops/Master Classes” many tab and “Sign Up Now!” or “Enroll” in Basic Beginner Tap.

Basic Beginner Ballet

You will learn Basic Ballet positions, movements, and exercises. This class will go slowly and explain the proper placement and execution of each movement/exercise. Class will include exercises at the Ballet Barre, center floor work, turns, and jumps. Please wear comfortable dance clothes. We recommend wearing clothes that allow the instructor to easily see your body so corrections to placement can be made. Leotards and tights are not required. Please wear canvas or leather ballet slippers. *Session II and beyond are progressions from previous sessions, in order to join student must have some prior ballet or jazz training.
